counting how many times the data has been downloaded on server

i have a search page and it has more then 100 result. I have

i want to count how many times the user has searched. and if it is more then 100 i want to show an flash message.
i was reading this so i created a class in my php script:

and called it from the search page:

It returned:
counted Object ( [times:protected] => 0 [user_id:protected] => 1 )

Now i was wondering how i can check if there is something more then 100 results. and if there is i wanna return the flash message.
Also when the user refreshes the search page the script is counting everything again.
